National Grid Collapse Caused By Vandalism -- Power Ministry

The recent national grid meltdown, according to the Federal Ministry of Power, was triggered by vandalism.

The vandalism occurred along the Odukpani—Ikot Ekpene 330kV double circuit transmission line, according to Isa Sanusi, media advisor to the Power Minister, Abubakar Aliyu.

Part of the statement read, "The immediate cause of national blackout (system collapse) was an act of vandalism on a transmission tower on the Odukpani—Ikot Ekpene 330kV double circuit transmission line thus resulting in a sudden loss of about 400MW of generation.”

It would be recalled that, the national grid collapsed again on Friday.
