During voting on the controversial E-levy bill on Monday, Dec. 21, a brawl broke out between members of Ghana's parliament.
MPs were debating whether the E-levy should be implemented under a certificate of urgency.
According to local media, the presiding officer, Joseph Osei-Owusu, announced that he would be standing down to vote and asked the Second Deputy Speaker to take his place.
The Minority had previously claimed that the Speaker of Parliament does not have a casting vote under parliament's standing regulations. Joseph Osei-Owusu, on the other hand, stated that he would still vote.
The Minority took the stage just as he was ready to stand down to allow the Second Deputy to take over.
During this time, the Minority and the Majority clashed, with members of both sides exchanging blows.
