Senator Rochas Okorocha's Kingsley Ozumba Mbadiwe University, Ogboko, has been taken over by the Imo state government.
The controversy was finally put to rest on December 9 when the National Universities Commission handed over the university's operating certificate to Imo State through Governor Hope Uzodimma (NUC).
While handing the certificate to the governor at the commission's headquarters in Abuja, NUC Executive Secretary Prof Abubakar Rasheed said it would put an end to the dispute between the previous Governor and the state government over ownership of the school.
Rasheed stated, "This development is being communicated by a copy of this letter to the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB), the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), and the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC)."
Governor Uzodinma was also assured by the NUC Secretary that the commission is ready to assist the state in its educational progress.
