Kim Potter, 49, has been charged with first-degree manslaughter in the April fatal shooting of Daunte Wright, 20, in Brooklyn Center, Minnesota, a suburb of Minneapolis.
She maintains the shot was an accident and that she grabbed her gun instead of her Taser by accident. "Guns are occasionally found in the car.
"There are occasions when people are recalcitrant, and you don't know who you're stopping "She informed the court about it.
Potter then drew a weapon she claimed to be her Taser. Before Potter's arrest, Wright's killing sparked three nights of protests and disturbances in Brooklyn Center.
