The kidnappers who kidnapped six people from the University of Abuja (UNIABUJA) staff quarters have contacted their families and demanded a ransom.
On Tuesday, gunmen kidnapped Obansa Joseph, an economics professor, two of his children, and three other people from the university's staff quarters.
According to reports, the gunmen demanded N50 million for each person kidnapped. UNIABUJA spokesman Habib Yakoob confirmed the news to Newsmen.
"They are asking for N300 million collectively. I’m not aware if they were given a deadline to pay or not," he said.
Mustapha Sambo, the son of one of the abducted people, said the kidnappers told his family they needed to pay N100 million in ransom after they kidnapped his father.
"They took our phones and his wallet. Then they said they need money. When we said there was no money at home, they took him and said we must bring N100 million before they release him," he said.
