Former Chairman of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), Chidi Odinkalu, has criticized Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice of Nigeria, Abubakar Malami.
If they are truly impartial, he claims Malami is acting as the "Senior Advocate of Bandits" rather than the "Senior Advocate of Nigeria."
He argued that if Nigerian authorities are truly impartial, bandits and killer herdsmen should have been declared terrorists.
"In Nigeria, there isn't a single separatist movement. There are separatisms," Odinkalu, a professor, said recently on Arise TV while discussing separatist agitations in Nigeria.

"Unfortunately, President Buhari has chosen to tolerate some separatism, aided and abetted by the Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami. Boko Haram declared a caliphate, as you may recall.
"That's what separatism is all about. The bandits aren't exactly looking to accept Nigeria's unity.
"So instead of the Senior Advocate of Nigeria, you've got the Attorney General of the Federation acting as the Senior Advocate of Bandits." That's concerning."
