"I will help Imo combat insecurity - Buhari tells Uzodinma

Buhari said on Thursday he will assist Imo State Governor Hope Uzodinma in dealing with the state's infrastructure deficits. 

Buhari, who spoke while commissioning the Egbeada-Onitsha bypass road in Owerri, said he was impressed with the state's level of development.

The president also stated that he would use his presidential authority to address security breaches in the state. 

In the face of insecurity and infrastructure deficits, he asserted, no society could make meaningful progress. 

Buhari stated that his vision of a secure Nigeria with significant infrastructure progress coincided with what Uzodinma was doing in the state. 

"I have gone around, and I am impressed with what I saw," said the president. A society that lacks security and infrastructure will not progress, and I am fortunate that this is where my vision has aligned with the governor of Imo state. I will use my constitutionally mandated authority to force the governor to do more."
