Mr. Christopher Orji, an Assistant Director at the National Biotechnology Development Agency (NABDA), is said to have committed suicide after being invited by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

On August 30th at around 3:30pm, his lifeless body was reportedly discovered hanging from a rope tied to a ceiling fan at his residence in Federal Housing Authority Estate, Lugbe, Abuja.

The EFCC had invited the 59-year-old man to report to its Abuja office on the day he was discovered dead, according to reports.

While speaking with Tribune Online, a member of the agency's staff, who requested anonymity, said, "It's pathetic." He described the deceased as a calm, non-argumentative person who was always smiling.

He added that Mr. Orji's age and the fact that he was single and without children could lead to him committing suicide.

"You will never see him in an argument with anyone because he is a calm and always smiling person.

The only tragedy is that he has no wife or children, which, in my opinion, could lead to suicide.

"Nkiru Amakeze, Acting Head of Communications and Protocol at the NABDA, declined to comment when contacted by Tribune Online.

"You people should leave me alone," she said, inviting them to come and conduct their investigation.
