Texas Southern University Offered George Floyd’s Daughter Full Scholarship

Texas Southern University announced giving a full scholarship to late George Floyd 6-year-old daughter.


On the day African American George Floyd was laid to rest, TSU’s Board of Regents, with its foundation board, has approved a fund to provide a full scholarship to Gianna, late Floyd’s beloved daughter, the university announced in a social media post.


"TSU’s executive and academic staff will prepare a place for Miss Floyd if she wishes to attend the University."


"The Board of Regents of Texas Southern University (TSU) honors the memory of George Floyd on the day that he is laid to eternal rest.


"Mr. Floyd was a lifelong citizen of the Third Ward and a revered graduate of Jack Yates High School.


"The Board, in conjunction with the TSU Foundation Board, has approved a fund to provide a full scholarship for Floyd’s beloved daughter, Gianna.


"TSU’s executive and academic staff will prepare a place for Miss Floyd if she wishes to attend the University," TSU’s board wrote.


The death of Floyd while being held down by the Police caused global demands for an end to police brutality.


Late George Floyd was born in North Carolina and grew up in Houston, where he graduated from Jack Yates High School in the shadow of TSU.
