Supreme Court disqualifies Bayelsa Gov-elect, Lyon, declares PDP winner

The Supreme Court has nullified the election of Bayelsa State governor-elect, David Lyon and his Deputy, Biobarakuma Degi-Eremienyo.

The apex court led by Justice Mary Peter-Odili on Thursday charged the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC to withdraw the Certificate of Return issued to the APC candidates, as the winners of the November 16th 2019 governorship election in the state, and issue fresh certificates to the PDP candidate, Douye Diri who reportedly scored the next highest number of votes during the election.

Justice Ejembi Ekwo gave the ruling after disqualifying the APC deputy governorship candidate, Degi-Eremienyo, as a candidate in the election.
