The Independent National Electoral Commission has officially launched its INEC 2026 recruitment exercise, inviting qualified Nigerian citizens to apply for multiple entry-level roles across several administrative and technical cadres.

According to an official notice published on the electoral body's career portal, the online application window opened on July 20, 2026, and will remain accessible to job seekers until July 27, 2026.

The initiative aims to strengthen the commission's institutional operations, voter registration drives, data handling, and overall election logistics ahead of upcoming electoral tasks.

Vacancies available under the INEC 2026 recruitment exercise span Grade Levels 07, 08, 09, 10, and 12, cater to a diverse array of academic backgrounds, and are divided into three core categories.

The Professional Cadre (Grade Levels 09, 10, and 12) includes positions for accountants, lawyers, ICT specialists, engineers, clinical officers, and quantity surveyors. Candidates applying for these professional roles must hold a bachelor's degree or higher, relevant professional certifications (such as ICAN, NBA, or COREN), at least two years of post-qualification work experience, and a valid NYSC discharge or exemption certificate.

For the position of Administrative Officer II (Registration Area Officer) on Grade Level 08, applicants require a bachelor's degree or Higher National Diploma in Social Sciences, Humanities, or Sciences, alongside practical competence in Microsoft Office, data processing, and record keeping.

Meanwhile, Executive Officer roles on Grade Level 07 require a National Certificate in Education (NCE) or its equivalent, coupled with basic computer literacy and strong organizational skills.

General eligibility criteria mandate that all applicants must be Nigerian citizens under 35 years of age, present a valid certificate of state of origin issued by their local government, possess no criminal record, and obtain a medical fitness certificate from a government hospital. Candidates must also demonstrate good character and express readiness to be deployed anywhere in the country.

To apply for the INEC 2026 recruitment exercise, prospective candidates should navigate to the official online portal, create an applicant profile using their National Identification Number (NIN) and active email address, choose their target cadre, and upload required credentials including academic certificates, birth declarations, and local government identification.

The commission emphasized that the recruitment process is completely free of charge and cautioned applicants against fraudulent recruitment agents, warning that submitting falsified records will lead to disqualification and legal prosecution.
