Pastor Adeboye on Oyo school kidnapping has drawn widespread attention after the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) shared what he said God revealed to him following the abduction of pupils and teachers in Oyo State.
The victims were kidnapped on May 15 when armed men attacked Community High School, Ahoro-Esiele, Primary School, Esiele, and Yawota Baptist Nursery and Primary School in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.
Reports indicated that about 32 pupils and teachers were abducted during the attack. One of the victims, a mathematics teacher identified as Michael Oyedokun, was reportedly beheaded while in captivity after the kidnappers claimed their ransom demands had not been met.
Speaking in a viral video recorded during the US-Nigeria Faith Heroes Award Gala organised by the Save Nigeria Group in Washington, D.C., Pastor Adeboye on Oyo school kidnapping said he immediately sought God's direction after hearing about the tragic incident.
According to the cleric, he cried out to God because Christians had been praying and fasting for the safe release of the abducted pupils. He said critics questioned the effectiveness of those prayers after news of the teacher's killing emerged.
Adeboye said he prayed in deep anguish and asked God to respond after people mocked believers by asking, "Where is your God?"
According to him, God assured him that the release of the kidnapped children would be "dramatic." However, he explained that no specific timeline or details were revealed regarding how the rescue would take place.
The RCCG General Overseer also said God instructed him to leave the matter in His hands and revealed additional information concerning the future of Nigeria.
According to Adeboye, God spoke about what would happen to individuals allegedly sponsoring terrorism and kidnapping in the country, as well as other issues affecting the nation. He did not disclose further details about those revelations.
