According to the State Ministry of Education, the government withheld the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) results and testimonials of affected students following reports of unruly behaviour after the completion of their final examinations.

The ministry disclosed that 17 final-year students were sanctioned after they were allegedly seen engaging in chaotic activities during their sign-out events.

The incidents reportedly included tearing school uniforms, chanting unusual slogans, and participating in actions considered contrary to acceptable standards of discipline.

Authorities identified the affected students as coming from Oyemekun Grammar School, Aquinas Secondary School, and CAC Grammar School, all located in Akure, the Ondo State capital.

The government stated that the decision was taken to maintain discipline within public secondary schools and to discourage similar acts among future graduating students.

Officials noted that educational institutions are expected to uphold values of responsibility, respect, and proper conduct, even during celebratory occasions such as sign-out activities.
