Ashleigh Plumptre has alleged that she was excluded from the Super Falcons squad for the upcoming WAFCON tournament by officials who allegedly demanded something she was unwilling to provide.
In a statement shared online, the defender said she could never compromise her values in exchange for a place in the national team.
According to Plumptre, her talent, commitment, hard work, and dedication to representing Nigeria should have been enough to earn her selection.
She expressed disappointment over the situation, noting that representing Nigeria has always been a privilege and honour throughout her football career.
The defender stated that the development hurt deeply because she has always taken pride in wearing the national colours and giving her best whenever called upon.
Plumptre maintained that she would rather miss out on selection than go against her principles, stressing that her integrity remains non-negotiable.
As of the time of this report, there has been no official statement from the Nigeria Football Federation regarding the claims.
