In a personal statement, Plumptre clarified that a verified Facebook page impersonating her had published fabricated claims alleging that she was left out of the national team because she refused to meet demands from corrupt officials.
The defender firmly denied the allegations, describing the reports as completely false and misleading.
According to Plumptre, fake social media accounts using her name and image have existed for years, but the latest incident was particularly concerning because the page carried a verified blue tick, making it appear authentic to many users.
The fake Facebook account reportedly published stories claiming that officials demanded favors from her in exchange for a place in the Super Falcons squad.
Plumptre stated that these claims were entirely fabricated and did not originate from her. She expressed appreciation to the Super Falcons communications team, teammates, and supporters who quickly helped debunk the false reports and report the page.
Plumptre also thanked Super Falcons captain Rasheedat Ajibade for using her platform to challenge the misinformation and support efforts to protect her reputation.
The defender revealed that she and her management team are working through official channels to have the impersonation page removed as quickly as possible.
