United States President Donald Trump has announced that American and Nigerian forces allegedly carried out a joint military operation targeting a senior ISIS commander believed to be operating in Africa.

In a statement released on social media, Trump claimed the mission successfully eliminated Abu-Bilal al-Minuki, whom he described as the second-in-command of ISIS globally and one of the world’s most active terrorist figures.

According to Trump, the operation was carefully planned and executed with the cooperation of Nigerian security forces. He stated that the suspected ISIS leader believed he could hide in Africa but was tracked through intelligence sources monitoring his activities.

Trump said the operation would weaken ISIS operations worldwide and help prevent future attacks targeting both Africans and Americans.

He also thanked the Nigerian government for partnering with the United States during the mission.

The statement has already generated widespread reactions internationally, especially amid growing security concerns across parts of Africa where extremist groups continue to operate.
As of the time of filing this report, Nigerian authorities have not officially released a detailed statement confirming the operation or providing additional information about the alleged ISIS commander.

Security analysts say the announcement highlights increasing military cooperation between Nigeria and the United States in counterterrorism efforts across the region.

Nigeria has continued to battle insurgent groups and terrorist networks in several parts of the country, particularly in the North-East.

The reported operation against the ISIS leader comes at a time when global attention remains focused on efforts to curb terrorism and extremist activities across Africa and the Middle East.

President Donald Trump described the mission as a major success, saying the removal of the alleged terrorist figure would significantly reduce ISIS’s global operational capacity.
