A Nigerian woman has gone viral on social media after narrating an unexpected family misunderstanding involving bitterleaf soup and her brother-in-law.
According to her, her husband’s elder brother and his wife visited their home as usual, and she happened to prepare bitterleaf soup, which she knew was one of his favorite meals.
During the visit, she jokingly asked him how he knew she cooked his favorite soup. In response, he laughed and asked her to serve him immediately because he does not joke with her bitterleaf soup.
The atmosphere remained cheerful as everyone reportedly laughed, ate together, and enjoyed the family moment. Before leaving, the brother-in-law requested that she pack some soup for him to take home, and she agreed without hesitation.
However, hours later, the woman received a surprising text message from her sister-in-law expressing disappointment over the situation.
According to the message, the sister-in-law claimed her husband jokes too much and accused the woman of encouraging him.
She also questioned why she packed soup for him and asked how she would feel if her own husband collected food from another woman to keep at home.
The sister-in-law further alleged that the previous time her husband received soup from her, he barely touched the food she prepared at home until he finished the other soup.
The woman explained that she was shocked by the message because she saw nothing wrong in giving food to her husband’s elder brother after he openly requested it in their family home.
She added that refusing him would likely upset her own husband, who would not understand why his brother was denied something as simple as food.
