The Trump CNN false Iran statement controversy has sparked global attention after former U.S. President Donald Trump accused CNN of a misleading report linked to a Nigerian news outlet.
Trump made the claim following reports about a ceasefire agreement involving Iran.
CNN had reported a statement allegedly issued by Iran’s Supreme National Security Council (SNSC), claiming that Iran had achieved a “historic victory” following the ceasefire deal.
According to the report, the statement suggested that:
Iran forced the United States to accept its terms
The outcome represented a major strategic win
The report quickly gained traction internationally.
Reacting via his platform, Truth Social, Trump dismissed the report as false.
“The alleged statement put out by CNN World News is a FRAUD, as CNN well knows,” he wrote.
He further alleged that the statement originated from a “fake news site” in Nigeria, which was then amplified by CNN.
Despite the strong claims, Trump did not name the Nigerian news outlet nor Provide evidence to support the allegation.
This has raised questions about the accuracy of both the original report and Trump’s rebuttal.
The controversy comes after a reported ceasefire agreement involving Iran, announced shortly before a deadline reportedly set by Trump regarding military action.
The situation remains sensitive, with global attention focused on developments in the region.
