Abia State to Host Free Medical Outreach with U.S.-Based Nigerian Physicians

ABIA FREE MEDICAL OUTREACH

The Abia free medical outreach initiative has been announced by the Abia State Government in partnership with the Association of Nigerian Physicians in the Americas (ANPA).

The programme is aimed at providing free medical services to residents across the state.

Programme Schedule

According to Enoch Uche, Abia State Commissioner for Health:

Arrival of the medical team: April 13, 2026. Official opening ceremony: April 14, 2026 (12 noon). Full medical activities begin the same day

The event will kick off at the Michael Okpara Auditorium, marking the formal start of the outreach.

Designated Medical Centres

Two major facilities have been selected for the exercise:

Aba General Hospital and Abia State Specialist Hospital and Diagnostic Centre

These centres will serve as the primary locations for delivering healthcare services during the outreach.

While full details are yet to be disclosed, the Abia free medical outreach is expected to include:

General medical consultations, diagnostic services, treatment and minor procedures and Health education and screenings

The involvement of international-based Nigerian doctors is expected to boost the quality and reach of care.

The initiative reflects the state government’s commitment to:

Improving access to healthcare, supporting underserved communities, and strengthening partnerships with diaspora professionals.
