President Bola Tinubu has signed the Student Loan Bill into law.
Mister Dele Alake, the Federal Government's spokesperson, stated this on Monday, noting that the monies will be housed in the Ministry of Education and will only be available to destitute tertiary students.
The student loan law proposed by the Speaker of the 9th House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, which grants interest-free loans to underprivileged Nigerian students, cleared the House on third reading two weeks ago.
The law aims to give underprivileged Nigerians easy access to higher education through interest-free loans from the Nigerian Education Loan Fund.
