In a court in New York City, former US President Donald Trump entered a not guilty plea to 34 felony charges.
Trump is accused of fabricating business records to hide hush money payments, including one to adult film actress Stormy Daniels, before the 2016 election.
Trump's actions are illegal in New York, "no matter who you are," according to New York District Attorney Alvin Bragg.
At 8:15 p.m., Trump is scheduled to fly back to Florida and make a statement from his Mar-a-Lago estate. (00:15 GMT on Wednesday).
