On social media, a video of a Customs officer striking Samson Nwachukwu, an adviser to Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, has sparked uproar.
According to accounts, the incident occurred on Saturday along the Agbor/Asaba Expressway.
Nwachukwu is the governor of Delta State's Special Adviser.
Success Ossai, a colleague, requested that the Customs Service identify the officer and take appropriate action.
"Help identify this cop so he can be arrested," he requested on his Facebook page. This behavior by a Nigerian Customs official is savage and should be dealt with by the authorities. This is not how someone should be treated."
"Yesterday, along the Benin/Agbor Expressway, a custom officer and an Army officer confidently assaulted our Human Rights volunteer and Special Assistant to Delta State Governor (Ombudsman), Mr Samson Nwachukwu," stated activist Harrison Gwamnishu. #EndImpunity
"We will continue to condemn this assault until the Authority takes action against these men."
