Elon Musk gaps Jeff Bezos with $101b, tops the list with $300b

Elon Musk, the founder of SpaceX and CEO of Tesla, has been named the world's richest man by Forbes magazine.

Musk is now worth $300 billion, according to Forbes' real-time rankings of the world's wealthiest persons published on Tuesday, April 5.

Musk has a $100 billion advantage over second-placed Jeff Bezos, the founder of Amazon (AMZN).

Musk was also appointed to Twitter's board of directors this week (TWTR). He is currently worth more than twice as much as Berkshire Hathaway (BRKB) CEO Warren Buffett, who began investing at the age of 11 in 1941. Buffett has a net worth of $125 billion.
