German Club Bayer Leverkusen have sacked Peter Bosz as the head coach, the club announce.
This came after a 3-0 defeat to relegation side Hertha Berlin on Sunday, and would recall that Leverkusen were knocked out of the Europa League by Swiss Super League side BSC Young Boys.
Bosz took over at Leverkusen in 2018 and had taken the side to several European tournaments and a runners-up position in the DFB Pokal.
Following their recent run of disastrous form, he started the season well and even topped the Bundesliga table in December, but have won just three of their last 14 fixtures since January 2.
According to reports Hannes Wolf – current coach of the Germany U-18 side, will replace Bosz until the end of the season.
"In view of our recent development, we have come to the conclusion that the separation from Peter Bosz can no longer be avoided," the club sporting director Rudi Völler said.
"The 3-0 defeat at Hertha BSC on Sunday was unfortunately characteristic, our team has recently fallen into the same pattern over and over again.
"After a factual and open analysis of the sporting situation, we therefore agreed to make a cut, despite the great appreciation for Peter Bosz."
