President Donald Trump announced on Friday via his verified twitter handle that Bahrain will become the second Gulf Arab nation to establish full diplomatic ties with Israel, which is the second peace deal in the region brokered by the administration in a month.
The US President Trump announced the deal in a joint statement with the Kingdom of Bahrain and Israel, noting that the deal is a historic breakthrough to further peace in the Middle East.
Another HISTORIC breakthrough today! Our two GREAT friends Israel and the Kingdom of Bahrain agree to a Peace Deal – the second Arab country to make peace with Israel in 30 days!— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) September 11, 2020
Last month, the administration helped establish ties between Israel and the United Arab Emirates, under the condition that Israel stop its annexation of the West Bank, territory that Palestinians have sought for a future state.
