West Ham appoint David Moyes as Manager after sacking Manuel Pellegrini

West Ham have confirmed the appointment of David Moyes as their new manager on an 18-month deal after sacking Manuel Pellegrini.

The club sacked Manuel Pellegrini on Saturday after the Hammers lost their Premier League clash with Leicester.

Moyes reacting to his appoint said, "It’s fabulous to be back, it feels great to be home. I’ve missed being here because I really enjoyed it.

"I enjoyed being around the stadium and I loved being in this part of the world and I missed the Club, so I can’t wait to get started.

"I think there’s got to be a short-term goal for us just now to get the wins to get us away from the wrong end of the league and what we’re going to do over the next six months, then what we’re going to do over the next period as well. The start is really focusing on the immediate games."

West Ham had been on a poor run of form when Pellegrini was sacked, as they had picked up just two wins in their last 11 Premier League games.

Moyes was previously appointed on an interim basis after the sacking of Slaven Bilic over two years ago, but he left the club once his contract was up after surviving relegation.

West Ham sit 17th in the Premier League table, just one point off the relegation zone with Aston Villa hot on their heels.

Moyes' appointment marks the third time a new manager has come into the frame for West Ham since their move to the London Stadium in 2016.
