Waste management official allegedly kills teenager over refuse disposal in Abia 

DISCLAIMER: It has come to the notice of the Authorities of The Abia State Environmental Protection Agency ASEPA Aba Zone and Environs a report carried by some news papers and radio stations alledging that an ASEPA official by name Mr. Okeugo Ugonna had on Sunday evening at about 5:30pm killed a 17 year old boy at Asa Road by Jubilee Aba. 

The agency wishes to use this medium to inform the general public and the news media that the suspected killer "Mr Okeugo Ugonna" of the said boy is not and has never been a staff of ASEPA Aba Zone. 

The Operations of the agency ended before 4pm on the said day due to some exigencies and the IPOB sit at home order as our staff hurried to get home on time. 

Moreover, we do not employ people with such character disposition being aware of the fact that we are in the business of serving the public which requires high discipline. 

We however, join hands with all the relevant agencies to demand Justice for the boy that was killed while encouraging the law enforcement agencies to flush out all the criminal elements under the "guise of beggers" alledged to be loitering around Asa Road by Jubilee and Bata Junction peddling on illicit drugs and harmful substances. 

In a related development, the Deputy General Manager ASEPA Aba Zone and Environs Hon Chief Rowland Nwakanma has warned all those who are not ASEPA staff to immediately vacate the Waste Collection Points or risk arrest and prosecution of same at the Sanitation Mobile Court. Chief Nwakanma further maintained that the approved time for refuse disposal within ASEPA Aba Zone is still 5pm to 9pm daily.
