Nyesom Wike Admits He Will Be First Target If Opposition Wins 2027 Election

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has publicly declared that his staunch backing of President Bola Tinubu could make him the primary Nyesom Wike 2027 election target if former Vice President Atiku Abubakar or Labour Party's Peter Obi secures victory in the upcoming 2027 presidential polls. 

Speaking during a media chat, the former Rivers State governor acknowledged the political hazards linked to his unique alignment, acknowledging that he is fully aware of the personal consequences if the ruling party fails to retain power. 

Despite remaining an influential member of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Wike has openly thrown his political machinery behind the re-election bid of President Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Addressing the likelihood of political retaliation, Wike asserted that he is under no illusions about how the opposition views his allegiance. "I will be the first politician that I think they will come after. 

I will be the first politician. I know they will come for my head," the minister stated, emphasizing that the threat of hostility has done nothing to diminish his commitment to securing a second term for President Tinubu. 

Wike revealed that his daily focus remains centered entirely on driving the president's political campaign forward, dismissing relentless criticism and public vilification as minor distractions that come with high-stakes Nigerian politics.

By positioning himself as a primary Nyesom Wike 2027 election target, the FCT minister highlights the escalating tension within Nigeria's political landscape as key political factions begin early maneuvering for 2027. 

Despite facing heavy backlash from opposition figures who accuse him of anti-party activities, Wike reiterated that he remains unfazed by public name-calling and will continue to mobilize support for the incumbent president. 

As opposition leaders work toward building a consolidated front, Wike’s willingness to take the front line in defending Tinubu's record sets the stage for a highly contentious electoral contest.
