The Mumbai criminal branch's Anti-Narcotic Cell detained a 34-year-old Nigerian businessman and confiscated 192 grams of cocaine worth Rs 57 lakh.
Okeke Chinonso Goodluck, 34, a resident of Khairani Road in Marol, has been named as the suspect.
The accused used to buy wigs in Mumbai and sell them in Nigeria, according to the police, but the pandemic turned him into a drug transporter.
The guy was allegedly selling drugs to local smugglers throughout Mumbai and its outskirts, according to the police.
The ANC's Kandivli unit was patrolling the western suburban areas on Wednesday, February 22, at around 1.30 p.m., when the team discovered Goodluck's movement unusual, according to the police.
The drugs were discovered after the police team conducted a search. Datta Nalawade, Deputy Commissioner of Police (ANC), said they have filed a case under the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.
He stated that the defendant appeared in court and was remanded in police custody.
"We are checking the syndicates and foreign links, cocaine supply links and routes of the international links."
