The Imo State Governor Emeka Ihedioha has appointed Kanu Nwankwo as his Senior Special Assistant on Sports.
In a Statement on Thursday by Aic Akwarandu, special assistant to the governor on new media, which reads, "In this new role, the Nigeria World Cup skipper will assist the Ihedioha administration on rebuilding the sports sector in Imo State".
Kanu who is a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador was Born 1 August 1976, played for Iwuanyanwu Nationale, Dutch side Ajax, Inter Milan of Italy, and English clubs Arsenal, West Bromwich Albion and Portsmouth, and a holder of the OON national title.
