Nigerian Immigration Service to start issuance of 10-year passport validity

The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has commenced registration for the issuance of the new passport booklet with 10-year validity to Nigerians.
The new e-passport which was launched by President Muhammadu Buhari on January 16 will be available in Ikoyi on June 3; Alausa, Lagos on July 8; and London on July 29, 2019.
The public relations officer of the service, James Sunday, on Monday disclosed this to journalists, took them around the data capture center in Abuja.
The cost of the 32-page five-year standard passport stands at N25, 000, while the 64-page five-year standard passport costs N35,000. The 64-page 10-year standard passport costs N70,000.
James said the new booklet is part of a comprehensive passport approved by the Federal Government to improve the quality and security of the travel document as well as to reduce incidence of damage, counterfeit, and forgery.
It has advantages which include 10-year validity, and is made from poly-carbonate technology which reduces incidence of damage, James added.
